David Plapp of Malta Dies at Hospital Here
David Plapp, age 84 and for the past 45 years a resident of Malta, passed away
about 4:00 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Glidden Memorial Hospital. Mr.
Plapp entered the hospital for treatment about ten weeks ago.
Well known throughout this portion of the county, Mr. Plapp leaves a large
circle of friends to mourn his death. Previous to becoming a resident of
the
Malta community, nearly a half century ago he was a resident of the Pierce
community.
David Plapp was born in Pierce township on January 29, 1853, where he was
married on May 7, 1876, to Miss Mary E. Schweitzer, also a resident of Pierce.
Mrs. Plapp passed away on November 30, 1903.
The death of Mr. Plapp is mourned by twelve children, Ezra E. Plapp of
Hooppole, Jesse J., Jacob J., Samuel D., and Sylvester S., of Malta, Joseph E.
of Shabbona, Aaron J., of Maple Park, Mrs. C.E. Balluff of Mount Morris, Mrs.
C.H. Montgomery and Mrs. J.E. Peterson of DeKalb and Andrew E., of Chicago. One
son, Calvin, died on July 4, 1915. Mr. Plapp is also survived by 52
grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, and one brother and one sister, Aaron
Plapp of Malta and Mrs. Cassie Walsmith of Minnesota.
Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from Nelson
&
Ronan Funeral Home. The Rev. Diener of Pierce will conduct the service, with
interment in the Malta cemetery.
