Obituary
Mrs. Mary Flood
Mrs. Mary Flood, 90, a resident of the community the greater part of her
lifetime, died early Sunday morning, May 5, 1952, at her home at 908 North
14th Street. She was born September 15, 1861 at Caharciveen (sic), Ireland,
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Riley. She was married to Thomas Flood at
DeKalb, December 3, 1882. They farmed in Pierce Township for 35 years and
moved to DeKalb in 1921. She was a member of the St. Mary's Church Altar and
Rosary Society. She is survived by four sons, James of Pierce Township, Thomas
of Des Plaines, James of DeKalb, and Martin of Chicago; two daughters,
Katherine Flood of DeKalb and Mrs. Mary Potter of Elmwood Park; ten
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1936. Her
parents, a son Daniel, five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock from the
St. Mary's Church with Rev. Charles Quinn officiating. Burial will be in the
St. Mary's Cemetery. The rosary will be recited this evening at the Roman
Mortuary at 8 o'clock. Friends may call at the mortuary until the time of the
services.
