Shabbona Grave Yard was located near the NE SE quarter of Section 25. The
remains of Mrs.
Lyman was the first interred in 1840 or 1841. Possibly twelve other people
were buried here,
but the cemetery was abandoned and nothing visible remains.
Early land records indicate that the following people were land owners in...
Section 25:
| Marham Gates | in 1846 |
| William Marks | in 1843 |
| Orrin McDaniels | in 1846 |
| Colman Olmstead | in 1843 |
| William White | in 1843 |
| Nathan Olmstead | in 1845 |
Section 24:
| Harvey E. Allen | in 1846 |
| Reuben Allen | in 1849 |
| Elizabeth Miller | in 1843 |
| Terry Thomas | in 1846 |
Section 26:
| Miles Norton | in 1843 |
| David Sanger | in 1843 |
It is assumed that of the other reported interments in this Grave Yard some
of the deaths may have occurred
in the households of these residents prior to the establishment of the cemetery
in Section 15 and 27.
