INTRODUCTION, Section 4,

 

      The Ney Cemetery, also known as the Ney Methodist Cemetery, is located in Section 4 Township 42 North Range 5 East. The main entrance to the cemetery is found on Eisenhower Road on the East side of the road, between Poplar and Melms Roads. Early records indicate the establishment of the Grange Hall, in 1849. The Ney Church was erected in 1867 on land donated by Daniel Buck.

 

      By Warranty Deed, Daniel Buck and his wife Jerusha sold to the Supervisor of Genoa Township and his successors in office in and for the inhabitants of said Town for cemetery purposes to be used for the burial of the dead in consideration for ONE dollar, to wit:

 

      Commencing Two hundred and sixteen feet (216) North of the stake situated at the South west corner of the North west quarter of Section four (4) in Township forty two (42) North Range five (5) East of 3 P.M. on the West line of said quarter section at a stake in the road, Thence running East parallel with the South line of said NW 1/4 one hundred and forty seven (147) feet to a stake, Thence North parallel with the West line of said quarter section one hundred and seventy (170) feet, Thence West parallel with said South line one hundred and forty seven (147) feet, Thence South on said quarter section line one hundred

and seventy (170) feet to the place of beginning. It is hereby expressly provided that should the above described land be abandoned as a cemetery then the land is to revert to the owner of the farm upon which it is situated.

Supervisor of the town of Genoa and ex officio owner of the land embraced in the annexed plat being a portion of the S W qtr of the N W qtr of Sec No. Four (4) N. R. S. E of 3rd P.M. in said County of DeKalb hereby certify that I have caused the same to be surveyed and platted into lots, the said tract of land as above described and as indicated on the annexed plat for cemetery purposes.

No. 42 (42) North Range 5 (5) East of the Third (3rd) P.M. in the County of DeKalb and that the above plat with its sub division numbered from 1 to 88 inclusive together with the highway, and the Avenue, with their respective courses and distances as thereon indicated is a true representation of the same.
